Hello Fifth Grade Grownups!

The fifth graders will have their 1st unit test in Math on Friday,  Sept. 4th. Our first unit is Volume, which we have been working on over the past few weeks. In order to help students prepare for the test, I am asking that students spend a few nights reviewing the practice problems in their students workbook. These should be completed by Thursday, September 3rd as we will spend Thursday’'s math class going over the problems that were difficult for students and focus on the ones they will need to know in order to be successful on their test. Students get 5 points for completing the required work. 

There are 3 sections in this unit, Section A, B, and C. Students are not required to complete the pre-practice problems, or the exploration problems, but are more than welcome to for further practice. I like to provide students with a "study schedule" to help with the workload. Here is what a possible schedule for homework could look like. I also recognize that students have after school activities and this schedule may not work for your family, so please modify as needed.  The assignments are also posted on the Schoology calendar for you and your child to access.  

Your child needs to bring their math book back and forth from home to school.  

Section A: complete problems #5-9 (pg. 27-30) on Weekend and/or Monday evening 

Section B: complete problems #1-4 (pg. 54-56) on Tuesday evening

Section C: complete problems #1-4 (pg. 87-90) on Wednesday evening

HOMEWORK UPDATE- 5th grade students will have homework throughout the year.  I communicate these assignments through LOOP.   If you have questions, please reach out at any time.  Thank you for your support!

Work Habits are graded with the above M, P, NI marks.  Science and Social Studies are also M, P, NI for 1st and 3rd Quarters.  Students will receive a letter grade in Science and Social Studies in 2nd and 4th Quarters

🚨 I view the GRADE BOOK as a communication tool and update grades on a regular basis.  I will teach students how to check their grades through Infinite Campus, in preparation for middle school.  Please reach out if you have questions at any time regarding grades.
