Your child will participate in a 40 minute physical education class once a week. It is imperative that children are dressed appropriately for activity. Shoes designed for physical activity or sport are essential. Crocs, sandals and boots are not acceptable for safety reasons. Please make sure your child is dressed in clothing that allows them to move freely.
Please inform your child’s physical education teacher of any medical concerns. Your child’s safety is of utmost importance. If your child has an injury at some time that does not permit him/her to fully participate in physical education class, a written excuse is required. A personal note from you may excuse them from one class. If they are to be excused for more than one class, a physician’s excuse is required.
We remind you of the importance of physical activity in your child’s life. Just as children and youth can learn the habit of regular physical activity, they can learn to be inactive if they are not taught skills and given opportunities to be active during their childhood. We urge you to participate in your child’s physical development and fitness. Children need a minimum of at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day, and what better way of achieving that goal than playing together! Go for a walk, take a bike ride or toss a ball. As a role model for your child, it is very important for them to see you being physically active.
Feel free to contact your child’s physical education teacher for any additional information you may need to help your child succeed.
