Our library mission is to promote a welcoming and supportive environment where we are committed to students, staff, community, and promoting a lifelong love of reading. Through collaboration, research, and critical thinking we will develop students with strong intellectual curiosity for the 21st century.
Meet the Teacher Librarian and her Library Aides
About Your Teacher Librarian: Mrs. Chaney
I have been married for 30 years. I have a son and daughter who are both married and my son has a son and daughter. I enjoy my granbabies!
I started my career in education teaching elementary school. After a few years I moved to the middle school. I taught 8th grade literacy at Mena Middle school for 13 years. This is my fourth year as the librarian. I work with wonderful teachers and help them get the tools they need, as well as teach along side them to support their curriculum. I also teach lessons on internet safety.

The aides for our library do everything from shelving books to helping to create displays. We are so thankful for them and their hard work. If you need help, and Mrs. Chaney is not available, check with them!

Kennedi
Kennedi enjoys reading fantasy. Her favorite books is Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan. She also loves the Keeper of Lost Cities series. If you are looking for an adventurous fantasy, she can help you out!
Stormy
Stormy
Stormy loves the horror genre. Her favorite book is Asylum by Madeleine Roux. If you are looking for something spooky and scary, stop by and ask her for some recommendations!
Meggy
Meggy
Meggy likes all kinds of genres, but she also has some favorite authors. One is April Henry. Her favorite book is When We Go Missing. It is mysterious. She also loves historical fiction, so hit her up for a great read!
Jocelyn
Jocelyn
Jocelyn adores romance. She has read almost every romance book we have on our shelves and is branching out to the realistic fiction section. Her favorite book is Give Me a Sign by Anna Sortino. If you are on the hunt for a sweet romance, she is the girl to help you!

Parental Involvement
We love our parents to get involved. Once a year we will have a free Cookies and Canvas night. We would also love to have some parent volunteers for book talks and poetry readings or for our "We Read Wednesday" posts. If you are interested in this please contact Mrs. Chaney.

We had a wonderful time at Cookies and Canvas this year. Thank you to everyone who signed up and came to have a relaxing evening of painting with your student. Stay tuned for next year's event!

The beach theme of our Cookies and Canvas came just in time for Spring Break. A twist this year was that the two canvases that the guardian and student painted were a set attached to each other! We had a wonderful time and can't wait until the winter scene next year!
