Transition Support to 9th Grade

Menands graduates have always had the unique opportunity to select from designated high school choices. Students have the option of attending:

• Shaker High School of North Colonie

• Colonie Central High School of South Colonie

• Tech Valley High School at the SUNY Polytechnic Campus in Albany

• Watervliet Jr./Sr. High School

Our eighth grade students have the opportunity to choose from six different high schools:  Watervliet, Colonie Central; Shaker; and Tech Valley.  

We are ready to take the next step in the process of helping you and your child make an informed choice about high school.   We will provided you and your child the opportunity to meet with the leaders in the high schools in January. Then, it is up to you and your child to make an informed choice and indicate to the Counseling office what high school your child will attend.   It will also be important for you to get in touch with the high school of your choice in order to start receiving information regarding their registration dates, parent nights, sports, clubs, etc.

Note To Parents: If you have any specific questions pertaining to your child's future high school choice please contact the high school directly for the most up-to-date and accurate information!

*Reminder: Students must have residency within Menands School District to attend one of these school.  Otherwise, the student will attend the school district where they reside. 

*PLEASE NOTE: Bus routes and transportation will be provided for students that choose to attend Colonie Central High School or Watervliet for the 2022 - 2023 school year.*
