Math Placement Criteria - MHS

This site is under construction as we are developing uniform 6-12 Math Placement Criteria. Please visit the Program of Studies for Specific Course Placement Information.

Currently, the department is weighing options for placement criteria for the 2018-2019 academic year. As we wait for the state to release information with regards to the recently updated frameworks, we will explore student performance at the middle school level and adjust criteria as necessary. Students and families are encouraged to share ideas or concerns with the Department Director as this process unfolds. Ideas that we have examined as a department are as follows:

  • Students wishing to move up from CP to H or H to AP (must meet 4 out of 5)
  • Minimum of 93% term average with none below 88%
  • Minimum of 90% midyear exam score
  • Minimum of 90% placement/benchmark/performance task score
  • Minimum of 85% on teacher rubric
  • Advanced score on most recent state Mathematical Assessment
  • Advanced Score on Mathematics Placement Assessment (for a few select courses)

Students wishing to maintain H/Accelerated pathway (must meet 4 out of 5)
