Luisa is an experienced educator and consultant from Portugal with over 20 years of experience in London specializing in Modern Foreign Languages, English as an Additional Language (EAL), and multicultural inclusion. Drawing from her own background as a multilingual immigrant, she views language diversity as a key strength for connection rather than a barrier. Leveraging deep roots in local diverse communities and extensive experience across all educational phases, Luisa aims to empower EAL children and their families, break down cultural barriers, and help students overcome language challenges so they can fully thrive and pursue their passions.
I am a community‑driven professional whose values were shaped by a deeply rooted family legacy of care, stability, and social responsibility. Born into a settled Jamaican‑British household, I grew up in a home defined by compassion and service. My parents arrived in the UK in the 1960s, contributing to the nation’s workforce through the NHS and major manufacturing industries before becoming long‑term foster carers for Lewisham Borough Council. Over 12 years, their home welcomed more than 100 children aged 5 to 17, creating life‑changing relationships that supported young people through challenging transitions and helped them maintain meaningful connections with their birth families.
This upbringing instilled in me a profound understanding of safeguarding, emotional resilience, and the importance of stable environments — principles that continue to guide my work today. I learned early that community impact is built through trust, continuity, and human connection: “When a young person departs, it’s never the end of the relationship. It’s just the young person evolving into a young adult.”
Professionally, I bring over 15 years of UK retail banking experience and 14 years of public‑sector clerical and administrative expertise, giving me a strong foundation in financial governance, operational control, and organisational accountability. My skillset spans annual budget planning, monthly monitoring, forecasting, procurement, credit control, reconciliation, performance reporting, and data interpretation. I am recognised for my clear communication style and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels across both public and private environments.
I have continued to expand my technical capabilities, completing City & Guilds Level 2 and 3 Electrical Installation qualifications with merits and distinctions. I now apply these skills into property renovation and redevelopment, specialising in domestic electrical installation, fault diagnosis, testing, commissioning, and regulatory compliance. Over the past six years, I have gained hands‑on experience working alongside specialist trades in residential and commercial settings, further strengthening my practical understanding of safe, sustainable property improvement.
Today, I combine my financial expertise, technical skill, and community‑centred upbringing to support organisations committed to social value. My work in property development, operational planning, and community infrastructure is underpinned by a lifelong commitment to helping people feel secure, supported, and able to thrive. I promise to bring a unique blend of professional discipline and lived experience — a combination that aligns strongly with the principles of the Community Interest Company model and the expectations of community‑interest analysts.
I am a software developer, digital consultant and problem solver, aiming to fill the gap between users and technology, while making affordability a secondary concern. I have been involved in diverse projects from early legacy Windows migrations, e-commerce websites, a starter intranet for BBC World Service, to control systems for UK railway testing equipment and migration of a world leading shipping app for TTi Testing Ltd. It was through working for an education software company in 2013 that I had the opportunity to start supporting schools and students and gained domain support roles. Since then I have had the truly fulfilling opportunity to help schools provide cost effective, safe and enriching digital support for children.
On one contract I had the pleasure of meeting Luisa and was very impressed with her unlimited enthusiasm and passion for helping children gain the best start in life. With her, her company and now charity I have been able to extend my support into the EAL community where the thought that my work is making a difference to children is the only reward needed.
I have been Buddhist since 1999 taking precepts in 2004, volunteering for many years at the temple, and remain in support of the community.
