COMMUNICATION

One of the attributes of the Learner Profile is communicator. This means that we consider good communication to be a vital skill for our learners and we do all we can to develop this skill in them. Communication between home and school is also one of the key aspects that we have worked hard at strengthening over the last couple of years, based on the feedback we had received from one of our end of year surveys. Some of the ways we encourage communication between us all are by inviting parents to our end of unit sharing days, our assemblies and our celebrations, and by including our students in our reporting to parents.

Saturday, February 25 is our 3-way conference date. These 3-way conferences are really important opportunities for you, your child and your child's teacher to sit together and celebrate the learning achieved so far and to discuss goals for ongoing improvement and development. We have trained up our students to be able to share with you - even our little ones - and know how excited your child is to share with you. Please make the time to attend and we look forward to seeing you.

Literature circles provide opportunity for peers to discuss books they are reading. ELL classes give students plenty of opportunity to communicate with each other and practise their speaking, listening and reading skills. The PYP builds communication skills of listening, questioning and speaking into every part of the curriculum.
