Primary News

Dear Parents:

What a week we have had in school, with students and teachers feeling unwell! We hope to see everyone back in good shape after the weekend.

This week Ms Maria, our Librarian, has been preparing for Book Day, which will be celebrated in school on April 5th. This year, in order to “feed the reader within” our students, we are encouraging Upper Primary and Lower Secondary students to take part in our 2019 Reading Challenge. The challenge is divided into three levels: bronze, silver and gold. In order to achieve each level, four books from our library collection need to be read, for a total of 12 books. Our brave readers willing to complete the whole activity will need to read one book per week until Book Day! Students can access their library accounts to create their reading lists and keep track of their reading process by logging in at mefis.follettdestiny.com. Directions on how to log into Follett Destiny can be found at the MEFIS Izmir Library Website. To access the PDF with detailed information about the types of books included in the challenge, please click here.

I would like to remind parents in Years 1 to 6 of the Workshop on Assessment that will take place on January 21st at 14:15; it will give parents an opportunity to ask questions about how their children are assessed, Renweb, report cards, Years 3-6 Progression tests and Year 6 Checkpoints. Let us know if you are attending, please, by replying to the electronic invitation sent. Before wishing you all a relaxing weekend, let me congratulate the students whose name was put up on the wall of fame in Trimester 1 for either an act of Kindness (red), Academic Achievement (blue) or good Teamwork (green) - see picture below.

I wish you all a good weekend.
