Sara Borgarelli, Deputy Principal (Primary School)

Dear Parents,

This has been another busy week; we started with the Reception 1 assembly which was a real party! The students sang and danced on a variety of songs of their choice and exhibited confidence and enthusiasm throughout the performance. they also offered their parents a gift they prepared in the classroom. Special thanks to Ms Janice and Ms Banu for supporting this lovely group of students.

The whole of Primary assembled in the library on Wednesday 15th for a virtual story telling session with the British children's author and pop-up books designer Jonathan Emmett. In our library collection we have a few fiction and non- fiction books by this author and Ms Maria organized a Skype interview with him. The children enjoyed listening to the story 'The Princess and the Pig', and then played the role of journalists interviewing the author.

Last but not least, the Year 6 Science Fair! What a great job the students did to prepare and present their projects; they were all different but all well thought out, and both teachers, students and parents enjoyed listening to the presentations and learning about various topics, such as density, friction, magnets and their reactions, how to make slime or an edible water bottle, plants and sunlight, supersaturated solutions and currents of convection. All students started by investigating a question of their choice, and then tested a hypothesis and followed a series of steps to get to their results and a conclusion. Thank you, Ms Katherine, for organizing.

Before wishing you all a good weekend, I would like to congratulate Norah Ottens from Year 5 for winning the Years 5 & 6 Speech Contest this year; I would also like to inform you that the Progression Test results will be coming home on June 11th. If you wish to come in and see your child's test paper, please let me know.
