School Counselors
Your Medway High School counselors are professional counselors that work in addressing academics support, personal/social issues and college & career planning.
Academic support may include: Discussing appropriate class levels, course selection for the upcoming year, and how it relates to your post secondary plans. Other support may include resources/interventions for studying, organization, etc.
Short term personal/social supports may include: Counseling on challenges you’re facing outside of school, peer pressure, relationships with others, and getting involved within your school & greater community. Referrals may be given should longer term/more intensive support is needed.
College and Career planning may include: Provide support and guidance in exploring, preparing, and applying for college, career, or other post secondary goals.
School Adjustment Counselor
Adjustment Counselors are available to meet with students to help support their mental health needs within the school. They consult with the school counselors, the nurse, parents, teachers, administrators and other professionals to discuss student's progress and help resolve and address emotional and mental health concerns.
Adjustment counselors also participate in IEP and Section 504 meetings. They are also able to meet with parents who are concerned about the impact an emotional difficultly is having on their child and their ability to function in school. In addition, adjustment counselors can consult with outside provider, when necessary, with parent permission.
This support often tends to be more intensive and longer term servicing than that of the school counselor.
