My name is Michelle Sheroff and I am so excited to be teaching in Medway for my seventh year. You may recognize me for being a fourth grade teacher in the past. When I first started teaching at Memorial, I taught third graders and I look forward to returning to this grade level! I cannot wait to learn all about you!
Here is some more information about my background and education!
I received my Master of Arts in Teaching from Simmons University and completed a full year internship teaching in an inclusive classroom in Needham, MA. I attended UMass Amherst for my undergraduate degree and majored in Communication with a minor in Spanish. I am a career changer and previously worked for five years in the digital marketing and advertising world before deciding to shift into teaching! I felt passionate about choosing a career that would be more personally fulfilling for me. I then spent time volunteering in elementary schools in Boston and Needham, which led me to pursuing my master's degree at Simmons. Children bring me so much joy, and I could not be happier to spend my days with them!
My teaching philosophy is greatly influenced by the Responsive Classroom approach that intertwines academics with social and emotional learning. Third grade is such an exciting year as children learn more independent skills and gain more confidence by building upon so many academic skills.
I look forward to connecting with all of you and your children!
Other fun facts:
My four year old son, Noah and a nine month old baby, Ian, keep me very busy outside of school! My students will hear a lot about them and our adventures.
I'm a middle child! I have an older brother and younger sister.
Because I love animals and especially dogs, my family hopes to have a golden retriever some day!
Dance is a passion of mine! When I was in 4th, 5th and 6th grade, I took ballet lessons and performed in three seasons of Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker. I was a lamb two years in a row and then a cherub! (Get ready for some fun movement breaks!)
My favorite color is pink!
I have a sweet tooth. I love caramel iced coffee (yes, even in the winter) and my favorite candies are York peppermint patties and Sour Patch watermelons!
Some of my favorite places that I have traveled to are Spain and Hawaii.
My family and I are big Boston sports fans! We spend a lot of time watching games together. The Patriots are my favorite team (but I miss Tom Brady!)
Please feel free to contact me any time at msheroff@medwayschools.org. I may not be able to check my email frequently throughout the day while I am teaching, however I will respond to your email within 24 hours if not sooner.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sheroff
