The school libraries are open during normal school hours Monday - Friday.
Students K-2 visit the library for one 40-minute class per week. Library lessons incorporate one or more of our library and technology strands:
Inquiry & Information Fluency
Creative Arts & Design
Love of Reading
Students in G3 & G4 have a scheduled visit to the library once a week for 15 minutes for book check-outs. They may also use the library at other unscheduled times for activities to supplement in-class learning.
In addition, the library is open to students during school hours to return books or select books at times their teacher allows.
K - 4 students may borrow one book at a time.
Students are not required to check out books in Library class but are encouraged to do so.
All books are due after two (2) weeks but students are welcome to return books sooner.
Books may be renewed once (1) for a total of four (4) weeks.
Library overdue notices will be sent home several times per year as a friendly reminder to return any overdue materials. Email follow-ups may also be sent to families thereafter.
There are no late fees for overdue books.
For books that are lost or damaged beyond repair a fee for the replacement of the book will be sent to the family of the student. Families may submit the fee for the cost of the book by cash or check (made out to 'Medway Public Schools' with a note saying payment is for 'McGovern/Memorial Lost Library Book').
