Here at Oak Orchard, we know that every child is unique — and so is the support they may need. Our school counseling program is designed to meet students where they are.
Here's a glimpse at some of the ways our students receive instruction and support from the counseling team:
Classroom Lessons ensure every student receives consistent support in developing social and emotional skills. These lessons occur biweekly and are designed to help students understand their emotions, build positive relationships, and develop self-management skills. Group Counseling provides a supportive space where students who may need extra help can connect with peers and strengthen specific social and emotional skills. Group topics can include self-control, emotion regulation, friendship skills, and more.
Individual Counseling typically looks like short-term, one-on-one check-ins for students who may benefit from extra support and skill-building practice.
Crisis Support is provided in the form of immediate assistance during emotionally intense or challenging situations to ensure students feel safe and supported in school.
Connection to Community Resources to ensure every household is supported, cared for, and has what they need to thrive. Click here for an extensive list of community resources.
