Abnormal Psychology

About the Course

Abnormal Psychology is a one-semester course that will introduce students to the study of abnormal behavior and mental disorders.

After completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • explain multiple definitions of the terms 'normal' and 'abnormal'.

  • describe the diagnostic criteria, symptoms, course, incidence, prevalence, etiology, prognosis, and correlations of major medical disorders.

  • understand the various contributors and influences of psychopathology.

  • apply diagnostic criteria and case formulations to the assessment and diagnosis of major mental disorders.

  • describe the historical and contemporary perspectives to the treatment of mental disorders.
