Kindergarten's first day is Monday, September 12!
We are proud to announce the first recipient of the Mary E. Baker PTA Scholarship in Memory of Elaine Santos is Jahryca Mcclean!
In her essay she credited our own Mr. Moore as the person to whom she owes her dedication and good character.
Jahryca has been accepted to West Point Academy where she will study to be an Army Medic.
We are proud to announce the 2019 recipient of the Mary E. Baker PTA Scholarship in Memory of Elaine Santos: Jada Froio!
In her essay she credited Baker first grade teacher Mrs. Gordon as someone who influenced her life from her earliest years, teaching her to show kindness to everyone. Jada truly embodies the Baker Bobcat spirit, giving back to the community as a Project 351 Ambassador and by volunteering her time to help younger students grow as volleyball players.
She has been accepted to Stonehill College where she will study accounting and criminology.
We are proud to announce the 2020 recipient of the Mary E. Baker PTA Scholarship in Memory of Elaine Santos: Caitlin Feeney!
In her essay she shared how her Baker teachers, Mrs. Gordon, Miss Canina, and Mrs. Young, all challenged her academically. She credits them helping her to become the motivated person she is today. Her motivation has helped her maintain a 4.199 GPA as well as lead both the field hockey and lacrosse teams as Captain. But more importantly, she has taken those lessons from her time at the Baker and now helps others to excel, just as her teachers did for her. Caitlin also shows her bobcat spirit by giving back to the community, including helping the elderly and taking part in a variety of outreach programs here in Brockton.
She has been accepted to Mass Maritime Academy where she will study Marine Engineering.
We are proud to announce the 2021 recipient of the Mary E. Baker PTA Scholarship in Memory of Elaine Santos is Lilyjean Carey!
In their essay, Lilyjean spoke fondly of our own Baker second grade teacher, Mrs. Toni Todd. Those bobcats and families who have been fortunate enough to have Mrs. Todd as a teacher know what a wonderful and caring teacher she is. With her patience and compassion, she was an important teacher in Lilyjean's life. Mrs. Todd remembered their kindness and shared a story where they had provided enough materials for the entire class to create the dioramas for the second grade project. There were many fond memories that displayed the pure heart and sharp wit of this exceptional bobcat.
Lilyjean has been accepted to Massasoit where they will begin their journey.
We are proud to announce the 2022 recipient of the Mary E. Baker PTA Scholarship in Memory of Elaine Santos is Alexander Barros!
Alexander opened his essay with a powerful quote from Nelson Mandela "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." The kindness of his Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Toni Castro, stayed with him. He appreciated that his teachers saw his potential and pushed him.
It was a pleasure to meet with him and his family. Two of his former teachers, Mrs. Whitehead and Mrs. Fischer (pictured above with Alexander), were both excited to attend.
Alexander has been accepted to Stonehill College where he will study Computer Science. His goal is to eventually introduce inner city kids to the endless opportunities the tech field has to offer.
