Information will be sent home in September regarding our weekly spelling word work.
How You Can Help with Spelling at Home

A reminder to check work for spelling is helpful. It’s important students understand that spelling “counts” in all subjects so it’s just as important to spell as best you can in math as it is in a final draft of a writing assignment. Students could begin by identifying words that are possibly wrong. Helping your child spell difficult words is okay.
Encourage students to spell words correctly that are right there on the page as a reference. Encourage them to work on common homophone errors (there, they’re, their, for example) and encourage them to spell core words correctly in their everyday work.
Review Core Words with your child. (Tests are on Friday.) Remember, not only do students need to learn the current lesson, they need to review past lessons as well. Students at this age often still need modeling with how to approach the task of studying. While we talk about methods for studying in class, having an adult at home as an assistant and encourager is beneficial.
Look over the weekly Core Word review test that comes home on Fridays. Take note of words spelled wrong and help your child review these the following week(s) until you notice mastery.
