Welcome to
Mrs. Flood's Classroom!
About Me....
I am excited to be teaching first grade this year at Manchester Memorial Elementary School (MMES). This will be my second year teaching frist grade at Memorial. Prior to this year, I taught fifth grade for 10 years. A certified elementary education teacher, I hold a Bachelor's of Arts and Science from Boston College and a Masters of Education from Endicott College, so I guess you could say I am an EAGLE and a GULL! I am super organized and look forward to helping first graders develop an array of early executive functioning skills through play and problem solving. It's also one of my goals to inspire my students to love school as much as I do. I consider parent/caregivers my partners and I know the value of forming strong relationships with families.
In my previous life prior to working in education, I worked in advertising for a large Boston firm and as an event planner for Marriott Hotels. I have four children ages 26, 23, 21 and 19.
These are a few of my favorite things...reading I Survived books, country music, playing Scrabble, collecting sea-glass, lilacs, chocolate pecan pie, and anything to do with Hawaii or Italy!
I am a kid at heart, and I love including music and silly games in the classroom. I'm thrilled to be teaching alongside Mrs. Friske and Mrs. Sheridan in first grade this year and I look forward to learning all about your favorite things!
