I plan to use these experiences in Germany in my own classroom. I am glad that I was able to experience different customs and meet new people in Germany. I can share these experiences with students in my future classes. Especially being a social studies teacher, I can share how Germans feel about their own history and how they ultimately moved forward. I have learned that Germans tend to be more politically minded because it is important to them that they never repeat the past. During my stay here, I have found the German people to be inspiring. Both adults and children consider climate change to be one of, if not the most important issue facing our world today. Since I have been here, I have witnessed a protest for climate change awareness and a protest advocating for more refugees to be let into Germany. This kind of social awareness among children in the schools has inspired me to bring in a viewpoints from all over the world in my own classroom. I want to be able to spend time on current events, not from just an American standpoint, but a world standpoint as well.
