COURSE DESCRIPTION: Pre-Calculus is considered to be the fourth year of a college prep mathematics program. Pre-Calculus will build on the skills of Algebra II and introduce trigonometry. Much of the focus will be working with and graphically displaying functions including but not limited to linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric function. There will also be an introduction to conic sections. The course also refines the trigonometric, geometric and algebraic techniques needed in the study of Calculus.

New skills will be introduced and many old skills will be pushed to new heights.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: A comprehensive course that covers career exploration, basic mathematical concepts, personal money management skills, 33 introduction to applicable technology, research techniques, and problem-solving skills as each relates to personal finance. Specific topics include but are not limited to budgeting, tax preparation, banking, credit, purchasing a car, home ownership, insurance and investments. Students will leave this course with the knowledge and tools to be successful in their personal finances involving their careers and everyday life.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Statistics course is to encourage student awareness of the importance of mathematics in the real world. The course is an introduction to fundamental statistical problem-solving and interpretation of data. Students will gather, analyze and interpret data. Students will apply appropriate statistical models to draw conclusions and learn to use technology in solving statistical problems. The course will cover basic statistical concepts that will prepare the student to take a college—level statistics course in the future.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: AP Calculus AB is roughly equivalent to a first semester college calculus course devoted to topics in differential and integral calculus. The AP course covers topics in these areas, including concepts and skills of limits, derivatives, definite integrals, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. You’ll learn how to approach calculus concepts and problems when they are represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally, and how to make connections amongst these representations. You will learn how to use technology to help solve problems, experiment, interpret results, and support conclusions. The course will prepare students for the Advanced Placement in Calculus AB exam. It is recommended that a student has received a grade of C or higher in Pre-Calculus and obtained a teacher recommendation for Calculus.
