As college admissions become increasingly competitive, more and more schools are asking applicants about their experience with community service. Students who have devoted their time to organizations are far more competitive than those who have not. CHS Choir students can easily earn community service credit for the time that they give to our organization.
Each semester, students must earn a number of CCS credits equal to the level of Vocal Music they are registered in. For example, a student enrolled in Vocal Music II would have to complete 2 points of CCS each semester. Students failing to complete their CCS requirement will receive a deduction of -5% from their semester grade for each point not completed.
The following activities can earn you CCS with Mr. West's approval:
Setting up or tearing down an event
Donating food or drink for post-concert receptions
Singing the National Anthem at a home football/basketball game
Creating the flyer for a choir event
Hanging or removing flyers around campus
Assisting Mr. West or Choir Boosters with a project
Participating in a CCDA Regional or All-State honor choir
Holding a position on the Choir Council
Arranging a piece of music for an ensemble to perform
