Snacks & Lunch
Please send a small, healthy snack with your child daily. Students have one snack recess a day. Snacks must be in a small, labeled container or baggie. 1st grade lunch bags are not allowed out on the playground.
Please also send a water bottle labeled with you child's name everyday.
Breakfast or snack and lunch are available in the cafeteria and Free to any student.
Lunch can be brought from home or is available for FREE in the cafeteria. Please be sure to pack a nutritious and filling lunch daily.
NO NUTS please as we have students with severe nuts allergies. If your child has food with nuts products at lunch they will be asked to sit at a separate "Nutty Table".

Absences/Tardies
When your child is absent or tardy please send a note explaining the absence or tardiness with them when they return to school or call the office attendance line (925-682-8000 x4469) to excuse your student. If the school receives no verification, the absence will be marked as unexcused. After 72 hours your absence cannot be excused.
Personal Belongings
Please mark all items (jackets, sweaters, etc.) with your child’s name. Backpacks are not allowed. Students need to use the Monte Gardens denim tote bags or a tote bag of similar size. Please be sure to clearly label the tote with your child’s name. Don't forget to write your child's name on their lunch bag and water bottle as well.
Behavior Management
Sticker Store- Students will earn a ticket when they exhibit safe, responsible and respectful behavior. Students can then buy a sticker for 5 tickets.
Table Teams-The class is grouped into table teams. Each group can earn table points by displaying appropriate behaviors as a team. At the end of the week the team earning the most points can gain a prize.
Individual-If a child is not following the class rules verbal warnings will be given, as well as the inappropriate classroom behavior communicated to parents and administration. If the student doesn’t change their behavior the student may be given an individual behavior plan to help them achieve appropriate classroom behavior.
School Wide- Students can earn Paws for individual positive behavior and ROARS as a whole class reward. "Fix-it" tickets may also be given when a student is not safe, respectful or responsible.
Scholastic Book Orders
Scholastic Book orders will be sent home periodically. This is a great way to provide fun and educational reading materials for your student. Also, bonus points are earned from orders to purchase books for our classroom. If you would like to purchase from Scholastic please order online using our class code N6XMQ.
PE
C3 First Graders attend PE Friday from 1:45-2:45pm and Yoga on Mindful Mondays from 1:45-2:35. Please dress your child appropriately for physical activities on these days. No socks or tights on Mondays as children are barefoot for yoga.
Cookie of the Week
Each child will be featured as an extra special person of the week. On the Monday of your child’s week I will send home a small poster for you and your child to fill out. Be creative and use this project as a way to share all the neat things that makes your child a star. Your child may bring in something special to share that shows why they are a star. (No toys please)
Classroom Treats
The use of treats in support of a classroom project must be approved by the teacher and may be restricted due to student allergies. Do not bring treats to school without being directed to do so by your child’s teacher. Neither the cafeteria nor the office can store or refrigerate treats. Please do not include nuts in any food items sent to school.
Birthday Celebrations
In keeping with our long-standing policy to focus first on academics, we do not allow birthday parties/celebrations during the instructional day. Please do not bring treats for your child’s class to celebrate a birthday. Birthday balloons and/or flowers also are not appropriate and will not be allowed in the classroom. When birthday party or other invitations are given at school, hurt feelings and conflicts develop. Please plan to mail party invitations, and do not send them to school for your child to distribute. You may use the school directory to contact other parents to arrange for play dates or birthday celebrations.
