Teacher and Staff Appreciation

In the dynamic world of online education, the unsung superstars (see additional reference below) are undoubtedly the dedicated teachers and staff who tirelessly support and guide students through their virtual learning experiences.

Their commitment to excellence goes beyond the digital screen, as they cultivate engaging and interactive courses, foster meaningful connections, and provide invaluable support to all learners and their families. Whether it is troubleshooting technical issues, offering personalized support, or meeting evolving needs, the MDLP team demonstrates unwavering dedication and passion. Their adaptability and innovation ensures that students receive a quality education regardless of the challenges posed by distance. In the realm of online education, our teachers and staff members are the pillars upon which MDLP's success is built.

If there is an MDLP team member you appreciate and would like to recognize, please Take a Mesa Moment and say Thanks!

Summer Courses

Students may enroll in MDLP summer courses to address learning deficiencies or for credit advancement. All courses are asynchronous, self-paced with suggested due dates, and require independent learning. All courses are taught by appropriately certified teachers, who answer questions, provide feedback, and support student success throughout the course.

MDLP summer course enrollment begins on Tuesday, March 26 and ends on Friday, July 26. Course end dates will be set eighteen weeks from the course start date unless requested otherwise. Students are highly encouraged to complete all summer courses before the first day of school in August.

MDLP summer course tuition is $175 per semester-length course. This tuition rate applies to all MDLP summer courses for MPS and non-MPS students. Tuition may be paid online through MPS web page, by phone by calling MDLP, or in person in the MDLP office.

Current MDLP full-time students may continue to enroll in tuition-free courses throughout the summer due to their school calendar being year-round. ESA students are required to pay full ESA fees during the summer months per funding dates in the ESA Parent Handbook.

Students who wish to enroll in multiple summer courses may enroll in them concurrently or consecutively. However, extensive analysis of MDLP summer school data shows that students are most successful when they enroll in only one online summer course and complete it before the start of the regular school year. Students who enroll in multiple courses are most successful when they enroll in one core and one elective course or two elective courses. Concurrent enrollment may not be allowed for some enrollments due to prerequisite requirements.

More information regarding summer courses can be found at MDLP Summer Courses.

Summer Course Progress

With MPS summer break approaching, many students may want to take a vacation from their full-time MDLP courses. If this is the case, students should plan to work ahead in their courses to ensure they do not fall behind. Regardless of working ahead, students are encouraged to engage in learning for at least part of the summer.

Students who wish to work ahead may do so with the understanding that they must login and submit coursework within the 14-day progress period. Students who do not login and submit coursework for 7 consecutive days will receive a progress warning. Students who do not login and submit coursework for 14 consecutive days will be dropped from the course.

Students should review the course calendar available in each course to determine a plan for working ahead. The course calendar can be adjusted based on the days in which students will engage in learning and can help students set daily and/or weekly progress goals to ensure successful completion of the course.

MDLP teachers will continue to answer questions, provide feedback, grade assignments, and support students over the summer, except on Saturdays (optional for teachers to login). The MDLP office will also be open from 7:30am - 5pm Monday - Thursday starting May 28 and will resume regular business hours on July 15.

New Full-time Option - Blended

MDLP is excited to announce a new learning model for MPS students - MDLP Blended. This new option is for full-time students in grades 4-12 who prefer online learning, yet may benefit from live sessions throughout the school day. Students who successfully complete their graduation requirements through this new model may obtain a high school diploma from Mesa High School.

All online courses will be offered in an asynchronous format using the MDLP learning platform (similar to Canvas) and will be taught by certified teachers (employed by MPS). Access the MDLP course catalog for more information regarding courses offerings. Live sessions based on grade level, content area, and student needs will be provided by certified teachers (employed by MPS) on a daily basis using Microsoft Teams (similar to Webex). Live sessions will include support in the areas of math, reading, writing, and specifically identified areas of need (i.e. goal setting, time management).

This learning model will allow some flexibility with daily schedules and will follow the traditional MPS school calendar. Students will be required to login to and make progress in their MDLP classes on a daily basis, Monday through Friday. They also have the option and may at times be required to attend live sessions based on a predetermined schedule.

Registration for MDLP Blended began on May 1 and will continue through mid-March. Enrollment and courses will begin on August 1. For more information, please call the MDLP office at 480-308-6015 or email the MDLP registration team at registration@mdlp.org.
