What we do
This group pursues cohesive district-wide climate resilience work in order to make our schools models of sustainability that offer a positive vision for the future to our students and community. Green schools reduce the environmental impacts and costs associated with school buildings and policies, improve the health and wellbeing of staff and students, and increase the environmental and sustainable literacy of our students and community.
Mission
Our mission is to develop and support implementation of a strategic plan to meet the goals set forth in AOS 91 Won’t Wait: a Policy Resolution to Address Climate Change.
To fulfill this mission, members will:
Collaborate with each other and the broader community to achieve the stated goals
Prioritize initiatives that maximize the environmental and financial benefit to the district
Consult scientific evidence and experts in policy, industry, and education
Act as liaisons to their school communities, both seeking feedback and communicating progress
Meet regularly and employ effective meeting strategies
Vision
Our vision is that AOS 91 will vastly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and waste, produce climate-literate citizens who are ready to thrive and innovate in a greener society, and provide a model to other schools seeking to engage in green schools initiatives.
