Maryland — exciting news!
The language acquisition bill similar to LEAD-K — SB 502 / HB 879 — is in Annapolis!
This bill strengthens our education system for deaf and hard of hearing children from birth to age eight — the most critical years for language and learning.
Language is how children learn, connect, and build confidence. Without it, they can fall behind — not because of ability, but because of access.
It creates a statewide program to track language milestones, support families, and provide annual reporting to make sure children are getting the help they need.
Parents also get clear information about their child’s language growth — so no one is left in the dark.
Now we need legislators to hear from us — parents, educators, and community members.
Email your Senator and Delegates today. Ask them to support SB 502 / HB 879.

It only takes a few minutes, but it could change a child’s future.
Let’s make sure every deaf and hard of hearing child in Maryland has the language foundation they deserve.
