Geology in Our BackYard

Rocks,Rocks,Everywhere

A Few photos from our school yard.

When you live in the Yosemite Valley you wake up to a daily Geology lesson, be it the view outside your door or the frequent sounds of rock "releasing" from valley walls. Students at Yosemite Valley School enjoy being in the center of the dynamic, ongoing geologic story of Yosemite National Park. Looking out one's bedroom window or up from a game of kickball students see several different iconic sections of granite. Walking from the Ahwahnee meadow you pass Royal Arches and look over your shoulder and you see Half Dome. During recess student are cradled between Sentinel Rock and Yosemite Falls.
