EDUCATIONAL ISSUES

Areas of decision-making currently requiring Board of Education approval will still require Board of Education approval unless specifically delegated to the appropriate committee by the Board of Education. Committee decisions in these areas will be forwarded to the Board of Education in a timely manner in order to facilitate participation by the Board of

Education.

Criteria for Shared Decision-Making: Specifically, issues subject to shared decision making will have the following characteristics:

• Directly related to the improvement of student learning

• Support the Morristown CSD mission statement

• Are worthwhile, measureable and achievable

• Presented in written format, clearly defining the issue

Issues Not Subject to Shared Decision-Making

• Commissioner’s Regulations

• Statutes

• BOE Policy

• Contract Concerns

• Academic Discipline Decisions Affecting Individual Students

• Matters Involving Confidentiality (CSE, Personnel, etc.)

• Staff Responsibility (Supervision, Evaluation, Staffing, etc.)
