Meeting Recordings

One of the things we will be striving for throughout our committee work is transparency and communicating out to our stakeholders at a high level. With these goals in mind we will be recording our large group meetings and making all of our committee materials available on our “Muskie Return to Learn” site.

Initially, committee members were provided an overview of the scope of the committee work. The committee felt this was important information for stakeholders as well.

The Return to Learn Committee work is based on the following assumptions:

  1. That our schools may have to look and operate significantly different this fall. We encourage committee members to embrace the opportunity to think outside the box and be open to this change.

  2. That the Return to Learn committee work will be ongoing throughout the next school year. Once the committees make their initial recommendation on June 1, additional work will be necessary this summer and next year to prepare, implement, fine tune and evaluate committee recommendations. We recognize that not all of the committee members are on 12-month contracts and thus anyone who is not, will be compensated for the extra time they put in this summer.

  3. That the committee work is complex and that the work needs to be flexible and evolve as new guidance from the state and public health becomes available.

  4. For uniformity purposes, the chairs ask that all committees utilize the district created Return to Learn template and keep recommendations to one page or less. Implementation details do not need to be part of your recommendations, details will be fleshed out over the summer.

  5. Keep subcommittees small and manageable. Gather additional feedback when recommendations are vetted with other groups. It also recommended that no committee member serves on more than two committees.

  6. Lastly, because this work is new for everyone and we are navigating uncharted territory, mistakes are going to occur, DON’T SWEAT IT or become overwhelmed by the unexpected. Chairs are committed to helping committee members navigate these uncharted waters and providing you whatever support you need.
