I am typically a 4th grade teacher at Pomona Elementary School. I will have Johnson Elementary, Cottonwood Elementary, and Pomona Elementary 4th graders in my online class this year. This is my 4th year working in the Montrose County School District. I am excited for the opportunity to teach online this year. I was lucky enough to learn with lots of tech tools in my middle school and high school. I feel strongly that having tech in my school gave me the strong tech skills I have today. I typically use Google Classroom and iPads often in my classroom, but teaching remote is new to me! I am a Level 1 Google Certified teacher and was fortunate to develop my blended instruction strategies with a certification course offered by MCSD this summer. I’m excited to continue to learn new methods for teaching as we grow together this year.
I moved to Montrose in 2017. I’ve lived all over Colorado and even in Maine, New Hampshire, and China! I’m originally from Glenwood Springs, but I lived in Maine for a good part of my youth. I completed a Master’s of Art in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s of Art in Anthropology and Chinese at CU Boulder. Before transitioning to the work in public schools in 2014, I led international and outdoor educational trips in China and Colorado. In October 2020 I married my husband, Nick. We live with our energetic dog - Honey, cuddly cat - Hunter, and A LOT of houseplants. My hobbies include skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, paddle boarding and hiking. At home I love to cook, spend time in my backyard, read books, and listen to music.
