As you probably already know, even prior to the Covid crisis, many teachers have been modifying instruction to better suit the needs of today's digital learners. One type of change is what is known as a "Flipped Classroom", an environment where classroom activities and homework are altered to allow students to bring initial information into the classroom so they may practice their newly learned skills with a teacher and their peers instead of alone, at home.
Your child's educational experience will be improved by the Flipped Classroom model. You can even feel free to learn the initial skills with your child, so you may discuss and review the concepts before he or she comes to class the following day. When your child comes to school, we will be applying the skills we learn at home to ensure the skills are learned and practiced.
There are two main benefits of this model:
Learning Skills at Home: Your child will be able to learn everything necessary for the assignments we practice in class/online learning sessions. If your child has difficulty, he or she can go through the material as many times as desired to master these skills. Please feel free to join your child while he or she completes homework videos assigned. It is a great way to see exactly what your child is learning, and you will be able to develop discussion with him or her about what was watched.
Mastering Skills in Class: Instead of me teaching your student the basics and sending him or her to practice more difficult work, we will tackle the challenges in the classroom. This way, I can see where your student might be struggling and help him or her succeed by presenting the information in another way.
It is my goal to make this transition to online learning an enjoyable and comfortable process. You and your child may find this classroom environment strange at first, but I will make sure everyone is comfortable as we take gradual steps to teaching your child according to modern educational standards.
A Flipped classroom works ideally in an online environment.
