March Staff Spotlight
Brenda Liriano’s imprint on the Griffin Gazette runs deep. As a founding member and the first editor to serve on leadership for two years, she has helped steer the publication throughout its entire existence. Her work ranges from health-focused lifestyle pieces to coverage of soccer, and into more complex opinion piecs on issues like the balance of powers and euthanasia. That breadth reflects a writer who is curious and unafraid to take on difficult questions. Brenda’s long-term commitment and evolving voice continue to shape the Gazette in lasting ways. Check out some of her writings below!
"There is a quiet brilliance within Brenda Liriano. She is self- driven, and when she focuses on a goal, she achieves it. Her wholesome, nurturing nature is experienced by those who have earned the key to her trust. The day that she let me braid her hair at her ninth grade convivencia reinforced how much she trusted me as her teacher and facilitator—that our bond was beyond the classroom. Her gentleness and smile has always spoken to me and confirms what I have always thought of her. This is a young girl built of resilience and soft-spoken strength."
— Edith Fadul, Teacher
"Getting to know Brenda better has been one of the personal privileges that come with my participation in the newspaper. Her contagious laughter, captivating smile, soft-spoken but unmovable values have established her as someone worthy of admiring. I can honestly and convincingly say that everyone should have someone as trustworthy and sincere as Brenda in their life."
