Because of climate change we go through lots of problems. Most of them are natural problems and it's becoming a problem since climate change is getting worse. Here is some information about these problems that we have.
Climate change can cause rising temperatures, which can create droughts, and rising sea levels, which can cause flooding. A drought can cause problems for agriculture and human health; while flooding can spread diseases and cause damage to both ecosystems and infrastructure. Death rates can also increase by the results of drought, flooding and other weather conditions. It can also affect food availability as well as the productivity of our economy.
But there is something that maybe not every country is being affected the same way, for example there might be a drought in one country and a flood in the other.
Even small changes in global temperatures can be consequential. Due to climbing temperatures, we face some heat waves each summer. When hotter temperatures increase to a rate that causes water to evaporate into the air, severe droughts occur. Climate change has already pushed the American west all the way to a historic mega drought— the driest 22-year stretch that was recorded in at least 1,200 years. It's been shrinking water supplies, withering crops and making forests more susceptible for bug infestation.
The drier, hotter climate can also create conditions that can fuel up more vicious wildlife seasons; with fires that can spread even faster and burn longer. This can put millions of lives and homes at risk. The number of large wildfires has doubled between 1984 and 2015 in the western of the United States and in California alone the annual area that was burned by wildfires has been increased to 500% and that is between 1972 and 2018.
Warm wind can also hold more moisture and that makes tropical cyclones wetter, stronger and more capable of rapidly intensifying.
Thanks to a report from the IPCC, scientists have found that the daily rainfall during extreme precipitation events would be increased by about 7% for each degree celsius from global warming and that increases the dangers of flooding. The frequency of the severe category of 4 and 5 hurricanes has also been expected to increase. In 2017, hurricane Harvey, which is a devastating category 4 storm, beat the record of 275 trillion pounds of rain, and it also resulted in a lot of deaths in the area.
The effects of climate change are the most apparent in the coldest regions in the world, the poles.
The arctic has been heating up twice as fast as anywhere else in the earth, that is leading to the rapid melting of glaciers and ice sheets, and that is where a massive amount of water is stored. As the sea ice melts, the darker ocean waters that absorb more sunlight might become exposed, that creates a positive feedback loop and that speeds up the melting process. In just 15 years, the whole arctic might be entirely ice free in the summer.
Scientists are predicting that melting sea ice and glaciers, as well as the fact that the warmer waters will expand in volume, could cause sea levels to rise to 6.6 feet by the end of the century, and that we could fail to curb the emissions. The extent and the pace of the change would end up devastating the low-lying regions and that also includes the island nations and the densely populated cities like New York City and Mumbai. But sea level rise at far lower levels can still be costly, dangerous and disruptive.
According to the 2022 sea level rise technician report from the national ocean service, the United States will have a foot of sea level that will rise in 2050 and that will totally damage infrastructures that includes roads, sewage treatment plants and even power plants. The beaches that families have grown up visiting might not be there anymore in the end of the century. The sea level rises can also harm the environment and the sea water can also do two things which are to erode coastal ecosystems and invade freshwater inland aquifers, and that's where we rely on our agriculture and that's where there is also drinking water.
The incursion of saltwater has already reshaped the life of nations like Bangladesh and that's where one quarter of the land lies less than 7 feet from above the sea. In addition to the coastal flooding which is caused by the rise of sea levels, climate change can also influence the factors that have resulted in the inland and urban flooding: which are snowmelt and heavy rains.
As global warming continues to exacerbate the rise of sea level and also cause extreme weather. The floodplains of our nation will be expected to grow by 45% in the year 2100.
In the year 2022 there was a deadly flooding in Pakistan and that inundated a lot of the third in the country and that ended up resulting from the torrential rains which are mixed up with the melting glaciers and the snow.
In conclusion, there are a lot of problems that are caused by climate change and they’ll keep getting worse if we don’t do something about it. So, we all have to work together to make our planet better.
