OUR PHILOSOPHY
It is the philosophy of Manchester Early Childhood Center that children are encouraged to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences where all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment.
We believe that each child is a unique individual and that all children can learn. Our programs provide inclusive settings that recognize children's varied abilities, interest, needs, and learning styles. We believe children learn best through meaningful play. Our play-based, child centered programs reflect the integration of physical, cognitive, social, emotional, language, self-help, and aesthetic areas for the total development of the child. Meaningful play encourages curiosity, discovery, and problem solving which allow individual growth and development of a positive self-image.
We recognize that parents are a child's first teachers. Children learn best when parents are involved in their educational program. The primary bridge between home and school is the involvement of family and the community.
OUR MISSION
The Manchester Early Childhood Center provides a safe, developmentally appropriate, nurturing environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth, as well as a positive self-image and love for learning. Our goal is to provide a place where children learn through play, have opportunities for discovery, exploration, and express ideas through hands-on learning experiences.
OUR CURRICULUM
We strive to nurture the emotional and educational needs of every child. Using exploration and discovery as a way of learning, High Scope curriculum enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. The HighScope Preschool Curriculum is based on more than 50 years of research on early childhood development and has been validated through a direct evaluation of the curriculum. The content of the HighScope Preschool Curriculum is organized around eight content areas that outline the experiences essential for the development of the fundamental abilities that emerge during early childhood. These are the basic concepts and skills that young children naturally use repeatedly, given the opportunity. These eight content areas contain 58 key developmental indicators (KDIs), which are aligned with national and state early learning standards, Common Core State Standards, and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
