🧡 WHAT A GREAT START TO BEAT!

September was a busy month at BEAT! Our students jumped right into a new year filled with learning, enrichment, tutoring, creativity, clubs, special activities, and plenty of fun.

Our theme this year is “Everyday is a Holiday”  We have had many fun activities!

📚 LEARNING + FUN = BEAT!

📖 Literacy Day

We celebrated literacy with guest readers visiting our younger students and special reading activities throughout BEAT. Students also put their story knowledge to the test with a fun Name That Story challenge!

🤝 Friendship & Sharing

Students worked on important social-emotional skills through activities centered around sharing, friendship, communication, and working together.

Activities included Build-a-Shake, Mingle-Pair-Share, rock painting, the Spiderweb Game, and age-appropriate stories and discussions.

💛 R U OK?

Students explored feelings, kindness, empathy, and checking in on others through activities such as playdough feelings, R U OK? bracelets, emotion charades, stories, and group discussions.

🇺🇸 CONSTITUTION DAY

BEAT students learned why the U.S. Constitution is important and explored Constitution Day through age-appropriate videos and activities.

Our Bulldogs colored, completed cut-and-paste activities and word searches, learned about the signers of the Constitution, and talked about why rules and rights matter.

💻 CODING AT BEAT

Students got an introduction to the world of coding!

They learned what coding is and why it is important before trying a fun activity using coding concepts to create initials and names.

BEAT enrichment gives our students opportunities to explore subjects they might discover they LOVE!

🎨 CLUBS ARE HERE!

September also brought the introduction of BEAT clubs!

Students had opportunities to explore activities such as:

Cooking • 3D Pens • Crafts • Fitness • Sewing • LEGO • Marble Maze Challenges • Paper Squishies • ASL • and MORE!

Student choice is an important part of BEAT. We want our Bulldogs to discover new interests, learn new skills, and have opportunities to CREATE!

🍎 FALL FUN!

We welcomed fall with an apple-themed day!

Activities included a handprint apple tree, LEGO apple-building challenges, apple pie cups, 3D apple crafts, and other hands-on apple activities.

Students were able to mix STEM, art, creativity, and cooking while celebrating the beginning of fall.

🍦 ICE CREAM DAY

Yes—we found an educational reason to celebrate ice cream!

Our younger students enjoyed an ice-cream-themed story while other students participated in creative activities connected to the day's theme.

Because learning is sometimes better with a little ice cream involved!

🎭 BROADWAY COMES TO BEAT!

Students got a taste of musical theater during Broadway Musical Day!

Students watched selections from The Lion King and Aladdin and participated in activities exploring how stories can move from the page or screen to the stage.

It was a fun opportunity to combine music, theater, storytelling, creativity, and the arts.

🫧 NATIONAL CHEWING GUM DAY!

We ended September with a POP!

Students learned a little about chewing gum and participated in a Bubble Blowing Contest.

Our tutoring activities continued the bubble-gum fun with Bubble Pop learning games, Bubble Gum Math Shop, and bubble-gum-themed math practice.

✏️ TUTORING MATTERS

Behind all the special activities, BEAT continues to provide students with dedicated academic support.

Throughout September, students worked on:

Sight Words • Handwriting • Math Facts • Sentence Writing • Punctuation • Adjectives • Contractions • Short Vowels • Number Skills • Rounding • IXL • Homework Help

Our goal is to meet students where they are and give them additional practice, encouragement, and confidence.

🧡 THANK YOU, BEAT STAFF!

A huge THANK YOU to our teachers, BEAT staff, volunteers, guest readers, club leaders, and everyone else who jumped in during September.

A successful after-school program takes a team, and we appreciate everyone who helps give our students these opportunities.
