What is Book Wars?
Book Wars is a book trivia team that meets between September and March to prepare for competition day in the Spring. Team members read twelve books a year, meet during STAR twice a month, and also after school on four occasions to prepare for the big day.
Westland competes against our cluster schools (Pyle, Silver Creek, and Silver Spring International), and for the past several years, we have won at the District Level and then gone on to compete for the title against the other districts. We are proud to lead the reading community of students at Westland, and the most important part of Book Wars is sharing our love of reading, and making time to talk about the stories and how we connect to them together.
Who Can Participate?
All students at Westland can participate in Book Wars. In early 2027, the sponsor will work with the team to choose our "Travel Team" members sho will serve as our Westland Competition Team.
Who is the Book Wars (club) sponsor?
Mrs. Myrie, Westland's Library media Specialist will serve as the Book Wars Sponsor this year.

When do the meetings take place?
All meetings will be held in the Media Center, OR in Room 130-C/TV Studio (the room right next to the MC).
