Incoming and continuing Magnet students, please complete the packet according to your grade-level and class for the 25-26 school year. Print packets and complete over the summer so you may turn them into your teacher on the first day of school.
(For the few students who have already taken pre-algebra and are taking algebra as 7th graders, use the Rising algebra resources)
TPMS Summer Computer Science Magnet Preparation 2025
Incoming Magnet students, please complete the packet according to your grade-level and class for the 25-26 school year. Print packets and complete over the summer so you may turn them into your teacher on the first day of school.
For incoming 6th graders, no preparation is needed for the 6th grade Computer Science course. Web-based programming and robotics programming will be taught assuming no prior knowledge or experience.
No additional Summer work is required to prepare for 7th grade Computer Science, but for optional review work, we recommend that you set up a free account in W3Schools.com and Click the green "Learn" buttons for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
No additional Summer work is required to prepare for 8th grade Computer Science, but for optional review work, we recommend that you set up a free account in Snakify.org, and attempt lessons in units 1 through 6. This document below shows which lessons should be completed, and which should be tried for a challenge:

TPMS Summer Reading 2025
Attention rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders: During the summer, please complete one of the following assignments.
Summer Reading SSL Extension Assignment Students will have the opportunity to select a book from a list connected to important social issues. Students will earn 8 SSL hours for reading the book and creating a project to advocate for a specific social issue in the community. See the assignment for directions and more information.
Summer Reading Assignment: Students are encouraged to read two texts and create a choice reflection to turn in at the beginning of the school year. See the assignment for more information and directions. This assignment is not eligible for SSL hours. Please contact Ms. Todhunter with any questions about summer reading. Julia_Todhunter@mcpsmd.org
