Choral Music Courses Offered
Voci di forza (voices of strength) - This course is open to lower voices (tenor/bass voice part) who are interested in learning to sing. This combined beginning and intermediate group is for students in ninth grade, upperclassmen with little or no prior singing/chorus experience, and students who have taken at least one high school chorus class. Emphasis will be on music literacy, sight reading, beginning vocal pedagogy, and performing music. In school and out of school performances are required.
Voci volanti (flying voices) - This course is open to treble (higher) voices (soprano/alto voice part) who are interested in learning to sing. This combined beginning and intermediate group is for students in ninth grade, upperclassmen with little or no prior singing/chorus experience, and students who have taken at least one high school chorus class. Emphasis will be on music literacy, sight reading, beginning vocal pedagogy, and performing music. In school and out of school performances are required.
Chamber Treble - As one of the two most advanced groups in the choral department, this course is offered to treble (higher) voices who are advanced in musicianship, vocal pedagogy, and sight singing. Students are placed in this class by vocal audition and skill assessment. The ensemble performs treble music of all genres. In school and out of school performances are required.
Chamber Mixed - As one of the two most advanced groups in the choral department, each student is required to have a vocal audition and skills assessment, choral experience, and advanced music reading skills upon entrance to this course. Students in this class will study a variety of choral music. In school and out of school performances are required.
