Contains all the information you will need about this course!
For every test made from questions Mrs. Stuckey has pulled from past IB SEHS exams, this will be used to "curve" your score. Please see Mrs. Stuckey if you have any questions on this!
Get familiar! The better you understand what these terms ask you to do on tests and quizzes, the better you will do!
When absent, it is the STUDENT'S responsibility to check in and get work that is missing. Follow the steps below:
Check Canvas and the Class Calendar
Get any missed papers from your class folder on Stuckey's cart.
Check in with your table/peers in class to get highlights on what you missed.
IF YOU MISSED AN ASSESSMENT: See Mrs. Stuckey to take the assessment and/or schedule a time to come in.
Note: If you were there when the content was taught and the assessment was announced, you will be expected to take the assessment the day you return to school.
Absences:
Students are expected to be present ON TIME daily. As a one-year IB course, we have a lot of content to cover quickly.
Chronically absent students will struggle to keep up with the coursework.
Tardies:
Students will be considered tardy if they are not in the classroom when the late bell rings. If they arrive after the bell without a valid pass, they will be considered Unexcused Tardy. 3 Unexcused Tardies = 1 absence.
Late students will be asked to sign in and Unexcused Tardies will be tracked on the board. Consequences will be as follows:
2 tardies: Message home
3 tardies: Lunch detention
4 tardies: Referral to administration
Under MCPS and SVHS guidance, personal electronic devices, including cell phones and headphones, are not allowed in class to maximize instructional time and prevent student distraction. For more information, please see the official policy here.
Students will be asked to store their phones and headphones in their bags. Headphones or earbuds cannot be left in ears or around necks.
Failure to follow the Electronic Device policy will result in disciplinary action.
Students will have TWO 50 pt. tests per marking period.
1st test: approx. 7 days before interims
2nd test: approx. 7 days before the end of MP
Tests will be graded based on the IB SEHS Grade Boundaries
If absent, students will be expected to make up the test the day they return to school, or see Mrs. Stuckey to discuss make-ups.
Once graded, students will have 3 school days to complete test corrections.
Test corrections can earn you 25% back on your score.
Example: If you earn a 30/50 on your initial attempt, corrections can bring you back up to a 35
Test corrections are only available IF you give a best-faith attempt to each question on the assessment. Students who leave multiple questions blank or do not show effort are not eligible for corrections.
