Beginning in the 2027โ2028 school year, high schools will be organized into six geographic regions. Start planning for high school and your future. MOST of our students will belong to Region 1.ย
Your Next Five Steps!ย
1. Find Your Local High Schoolย
Identify the local high school that based on your home address within your region. Use the School Assignment Tool here.
ย 2. Identify Your Regionย
MCPS is organized into six regions. Identify your assigned region, and then explore your local high school, and as well the other high schools and programs available within.
๐ Most (not all) SSIMS students are in Region 1
3. Explore Your Region
Once you know your region and local high school, learn about available programs, application processes, and other high school options.
You are guaranteed enrollment at your local high school.
If certain programs are of interest to you at other schools within your region, you may apply for enrollment
4. Attend Informational Sessions
๐ซ Classroom Lessons: Counselors will visit your science classes to review the high school process and important deadlines.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Caregiver Information Sessions: After-school sessions will be offered for caregivers to learn more and ask questions.
๐ High School Open Houses: High schools will host opportunities for students and caregivers to visit, explore programs, and learn more about what each school has to offer.
5. Submit!
After carefully considering your high school options, complete the following:
High School Possibility Google Form โ Share your high school preferences with your counselor.
Online High School Common Application โ Complete the application through ParentVUE.
Be sure to review your choices carefully before submitting!
