Environmental Opportunities

The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and the Audubon Naturalist Society are looking for high school interns interested in joining Peer Outreach With Energy Resources (P.O.W.E.R.) and we would love for you to pass along this opportunity to your students!

Now in its fifth year, P.O.W.E.R is a year-long program training high school students to become Climate Ambassadors within their schools and community around issues related to energy use and conservation. The program culminates with students delivering energy education presentations to elementary-age audiences at public libraries. Through this program, students will get the chance to learn about Montgomery County’s energy-saving resources, develop their public speaking skills, meet students from across the county, learn from professionals working in environmental careers, and earn SSL hours for their work.

No prior experience is necessary to join the P.O.W.E.R. team. We welcome students interested in acting, storytelling, design, activism, the environment, and working with kids. Freshmen and sophomores are especially encouraged to apply.

Students may sign up here to attend an informational session, or visit our website to learn more about our program.
