Strings Instrument Care

Unpacking

• Place the instrument on the floor, table, or other flat surface.

• Remove the instrument by holding the neck. NEVER grab the instrument by holding the strings or bridge!

When You're Done Playing

• Wipe down the strings and body of the instrument. Do NOT let the rosin build up on the strings!

• Loosen your bow.

• Put the bow in the case tip first.

• Make sure your case is completely closed before picking it up.

Storage

• Do NOT store method books, music, or folders in your case on top of the instrument. 

• Store your instrument in the case when not playing.

• Make sure to use any straps in the case to secure the instrument.

• Make sure your case is labeled with your name.

• NEVER leave your instrument in hot or cold places for long times.

• Do NOT leave it in your car overnight!

Bow Care

• Always loosen your bow when you are done! Leaving it tight will damage your bow!

• Do NOT over-tighten your bow! Just tight enough that the hair will not touch the bow when using normal pressure.

• Apply some rosin every time you play.

• Do NOT touch the hair on the bow!
