Middle school is an exciting yet challenging time for students, their parents, and their teachers. Middle school students are characterized by rapid physical, curiosity about their world and an emerging self-identity. Middle School counselors have an impact on these years by implementing a school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents and the community to create a safe, respectful learning environment whereby young adolescents can maximize personal and academic achievement.


Vision Statement

The vision of the school counseling program at Parkland Magnet Middle School is that students will have the academic, social and emotional skills so that they are well rounded, successful and productive members of society. Students possess problem solving and critical thinking skills to achieve their post secondary goals, develop positive relationships and are able to self advocate and navigate the world on their own in the 21st century. Our students are responsible, respectful, and ready to learn.


Mission StatEment

The mission of the school counseling program at Parkland Magnet Middle School is to provide a data driven comprehensive school counseling department addressing the academic, career and social/emotional development of all students. All students will have equitable access to the school counseling program which will result in them becoming independent, critical thinkers through their participation in individual and small group counseling, classroom lessons and school wide activities. Counselors collaborate with all necessary stakeholders to advocate for equity, access and success for all.
