To deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student academic achievement, college and career readiness, and positive social/emotional outcomes through a collaborative effort between the home, school, and community.
I have been the school counselor at Oakland Terrace since 2003. Before Oakland Terrace, I worked in Prince George's County Public Schools as a middle school counselor for two years and as an elementary special educator for five years. I received a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling at Bowie State University in 2001 and completed an undergraduate degree at the University of the District of Columbia in 1994. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering at the Humane Rescue Alliance and Brandywine Valley SPCA, fostering small animals, traveling, and playing pickleball.
Individual
The School Counselor provides short-term individual counseling. Students may self-refer themselves to the school counselor using the referral form on the office door (Room 111) or request one from the classroom teacher. Teachers may also refer students to the school counselor through the use of the online teacher referral system (OTES Staff Resource) tab above or by email. Parents/Caregivers may refer their child/ren to the school counselor through email or a phone call.
Individual counseling does not require parental consent before counseling. If you would like your child to opt out of individual counseling please contact the school counselor.
