Description

The Cadet Program has been established to provide qualified individuals, who are interested in becoming a Police Officer with the Montgomery County Department of Police, first-hand experience in law enforcement.  Cadets will be assigned (2) semester rotations (Fall/Spring) per school year in various units, for a maximum of two years. This will provide the Cadet with an opportunity to learn about the Department and gain on- the- job training. Cadets participating in the program receive a salary of $16.75 per hour.

Cadets must be enrolled in a College Curriculum Full Time and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Cadets will work 20 hours per week from September through May with flexible hours to accommodate class schedule.

Train & Carousel Manager on Duty (Starting at $15.00/hr.)

Responsible for assisting the Facility Manager in supervising the daily operation of train and carousel rides and/or ticket sales for seasonal outdoor facilities (Cabin John Regional Park- miniature train OR Wheaton Regional Park - miniature train and carousel). Tasks include daily opening and closing duties, preparing cash reports and bank deposits, safe operation of the rides, handling cash funds, fiscal accountability for ticket sales, notifies facility manager of facility needs, requests orders for supplies, assists in booking party room rentals, checks the cleanliness of the overall facility and supervises staff.  Ability to deal with large volumes of patrons in an outdoor setting is a must.  Qualifications:  Valid Driver’s License, Weekend/Holiday work is mandatory.  Experience managing staff and cash handling experience preferred.  Minimum age 18.  

Train & Carousel Operators (Starting at $15.00/hr.)

Responsible for the daily operation of train and carousel rides and/or ticket sales for seasonal outdoor facilities (Cabin John Regional Park- miniature train OR Wheaton Regional Park – miniature train and carousel). Tasks include daily opening and closing duties, safe operation of the rides and performing routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and maintaining clean restrooms. Ability to deal with large volumes of patrons in an outdoor setting is a must.  Qualifications:  Weekend/Holiday work is mandatory.  Minimum age 16 (18 with a valid Driver’s License to operate the Train).

Performs responsible program and/or facility management duties in assisting management staff. Serve as the facility's first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Assists full time managers in overseeing the day to day operation of the facility; inspects for cleanliness, safety and sanitation. Opens and/or Closes the facility.  Prepares daily bank deposits and runs cash reports.  Performs program registration, rental applications, and court reservations.  Must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (e.g. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), have a pleasant demeanor, and be knowledgeable of facility programs, fees and policies. Cash handling experience preferred. Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Minimum age: 18

 

Ice Rink Cashier/Customer Service Representative - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Cashiers are responsible for the collection of admission and course registration fees and serve as the facility’s first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Cashiers must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (e.g. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), have a pleasant demeanor, and also be knowledgeable of facility programs, fees, and policies. Performs routine tasks associated with various recreation programs and activities at a sporting facility including routine cleaning and maintenance. Cash handling experience preferred. Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Minimum age: 16

Ice Rink Manager on Duty - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Assist facility management to ensure that all ice rink programs, scheduled activities and departments operate on time, as scheduled, on a daily basis.  Supervise staff by ensuring that employees are at their scheduled workstation performing assigned duties. Perform cash handling, revenue reconciliation and reporting.  Drive ice resurfacing equipment and sharpen skates (we will train).  Assist management by ensuring that all equipment is operated in a safe and appropriate manner.  Respond in a timely manner to requests for information from both facility management and customers.  Assist management in upholding the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the operation.  Assist in creating a positive and professional atmosphere by consistently displaying a professional appearance and demeanor, while demonstrating superior customer service skills, attention to detail and pride in producing a first-class experience for our customers.  Qualifications: Shifts include early morning, evening and weekend. Possess a working knowledge of ice skating and ice rink operations. Experience in supervising staff and cash handling experience preferred. Minimum age: 18

Ice Rink Snack Bar Attendant/Cashier - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Prepares snack items for sale. Operates, monitors and cleans all food service-related equipment, including cash registers. Follows all safety and security procedures involving cash and inventory. Cashiers are responsible for the collection of snack bar fees and serve as the facility’s first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Cashiers must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (e.g. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities) and have a pleasant demeanor. Cash handling experience preferred. Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Minimum age: 16

Ice Rink Pro Shop /Customer Service Representative – (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Responsible for the sale and inventory of merchandise and serve as the facility’s first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (e.g. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities) and have a pleasant demeanor. Cash handling experience, knowledge of all types of skating equipment, skate sharpening, fitting of skates, etc. preferred. Qualifications: Weekend and Evening work is mandatory.  Minimum age: 16     

Ice Rink Skate Guard/Customer Service Representative - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Skate guards are responsible for patron’s safety while skating on the rink, providing assistance to Ice Rink guests, and enforcing building safety procedures. Performs routine cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, etc. Qualifications: Weekend and Evening work is mandatory.  Must know how to ice skate. Minimum age: 16 

Ice Rink Freestyle Monitor - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Take attendance for the freestyle session ensuring skaters have paid. Maintain organization of the monitors’ box including skaters’ music and freestyle belts. Play skaters’ music in accordance with freestyle protocols and procedures. Understand and enforce the facility’s freestyle etiquette and educate others when necessary. Encourage a positive atmosphere amongst skaters and coaches. Communicate any issues to rink management. Qualifications: Weekend and Evening work is mandatory.  Basic knowledge of figure skating and knowledge of a freestyle session. Ability to work well with a diverse clientele. Minimum Age: 18

 Ice Rink Zamboni Operator - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of ice resurfacing equipment. Ensure all ice equipment is operational, oversee daily facility maintenance and cleaning, complete ice measurements and enforce facility rules, while providing excellent customer service. Will be responsible for sharpening facility rental and customer skates (training provided).  Knowledge of facility schedule, programs, fees and policies. Qualifications: Shifts include early morning, evening and weekend.  Valid driver’s license and ability to pass defensive driving course required. Previous experience with skate sharpening and driving a Zamboni preferred. Minimum age: 18 

Ice Skating Instructional Assistant - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Ice Skating Instructional Assistants support our ice skating coaches to provide high quality instruction during our group lesson skating programs, with the aim to improve student success and enthusiasm. Skating experience is essential, and candidates must have availability to work during group lesson scheduled times. Ice Skating Instructional Assistants must have a pleasant demeanor and have an in-depth knowledge of ice skating and the skating curriculum to assist skaters, coaches and parents. Qualifications: Skating experience and knowledge of ice skating and ice skating curriculum.  Minimum age: 16

 Wheaton Sports Pavilion Front Desk/Customer Service Rep – (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Wheaton Sports Pavilion Activity Leader/Customer Service Rep - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Activity Leaders are responsible for ensuring the party rentals have fun and exciting games to play on the synthetic turf field and serve as the facility’s first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Activity Leaders must have a pleasant demeanor, and be knowledgeable of facility programs, fees, and policies. They must perform routine cleaning tasks associated with facility operations. May serve as backup for front desk staff and must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (e.g. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities).  Qualifications: Weekend work is mandatory. Basic knowledge of field games preferred.  Minimum age: 16

Custodian - (Starts @ $15.00/hr.)

Responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of a sports facility's public areas, locker rooms, bathrooms, lobby, offices and outside of the facility. Report building issues to management, keep accurate inventory of janitorial supplies and equipment.  Qualifications: High school graduate or GED, and one year of experience.   Requires long periods of standing, frequent walking, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching, repetitive lifting of objects up to 49 pounds.  Work hours include weekday / weekend nights.   Minimum age: 18
