The Approaches to Learning are the skills that students use to learn content and share ideas. There are 10 skills that are organized into 5 clusters.
Self-Mangement Skills
Reflective Skills - Considering and reconsidering the process of learning; choosing and using ATL skills
Affective Skills - Managing state of mind
Organizational Skills - Managing time and tasks effectively
Research Skills
Media Literacy Skills - Interacting with media to use and create ideas and information
Information Literacy Skills - Finding, interpreting, judging and creating information
Communication Skills - Exchanging thoughts, messages and information effectively through interaction.
Collaborative Skills (Social) - Working effectively with others
Thinking Skills
Transfer Skills - Taking what you learn in one place and applying it to a different situation
Critical Thinking Skills - Analyzing and evaluating issues and ideas
Creative Thinking Skills - Generating new ideas and considering new perspectives
Approaches to Learning Skills should be taught explicitly, practiced, and used to master and share content.
