IB Assessment
Through their coursework, MYP students will have an opportunity to demonstrate their learning by completing authentinc summative tasks that provide real-world context to the learning in unit.
Assessment and Service Learning
One characteristic of MYP is the explicit connection between what students learn in school and the world around them. One of those connections is through service.
There are 4 types of service:
Research: Learning about a topic and sharing that information outside of the classroom (e.g. posters promoting Social Emotional Learning in Health classs)
Advocacy: Learning about a problem that needs to be solved, and sharing information the solution outside of the classroom (e.g. Public Service Announcements created by students about bullying that are shared on the daily announcements)
Indirect Service: Students complete an act of service that is then shared outside of the buidling (e.g. a collecting books for Little Free Libraries)
Direct Service: Students go out into the community to complete an act of service (e.g. a food distribution)
Students participate in service projects that are part of the fabric of the school. Students will also be asked to complete assessments that include an element of service.
