Mrs. Jordan
Content Specialist/Department Chair
Mrs. Jordan is the middle school Science & Tech content specialist/department chair. She has 16 years of middle school teaching experience. She has taught in Perquimans County-NC, Charlotte Mecklenbrug Schools-NC, and York District in SC. This school year she will be teaching 6th grade Earth Science & Investigations in Science 8. Mrs. Jordan is a graduate from Elizabeth City State University with a BS degree in Biology. In addition, she attended Gardner Webb University and received her Masters in Master of Arts in Teaching, and currently attends Hood College to receive her certification in Educational Leadership.
Ms. Ballard
Welcome to an exciting journey through the world of science! I'm Miss. Ballard, your enthusiastic middle school science teacher with over 18 years of experience making learning an adventure. Science is not just a subject; it's a way of understanding and appreciating our incredible universe.
My passion for science knows no bounds, and I'm thrilled to share that passion with every one of you. Whether we're exploring the mysteries of the cosmos, conducting hands-on experiments, or diving deep into the wonders of the natural world, you can count on me to make science fun, engaging, and accessible.
Mrs. Smith
Mrs. Smith has over 15 years of experience in MCPS at all levels and prior to that she taught in NY and NC. She attended North Carolina A& T State University with majors in Biology and Psychology. She has an MSE in Education from LIU and a PD from George Washington University. Her love for science began in middle school years and she hopes to inspire your to love science as well. This year she will be teaching investigations in life science.
Mrs. White-Steiner
Mrs. White-Steiner has 15 years of teaching experience. She has taught at the middle school and high school level. She received her Master's of Science in Adolescent Education. Science is her passion, especially biology and the human body! This year she will be teaching Investigations in Life Science, Honors Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology.
Tech Department
Dr. Leach
Dr. Leach has over 25 years of experience in MCPS at both the middle and high school levels. He attended the University of Maryland with a major in Park Science. He has a Masters in Online Learning, and a Doctorate in Leadership. Dr. Leach is certified in Art, Computer, Environmental Science, Science, and Technology and has earned credentials as an Outdoor Education instructor, and National Aquarium Teacher.
In addition, Dr. Leach worked 20 years in the computer industry and obtained certifications from Apple, CISCO, Microsoft, and Oracle. He has met four Presidents of the United States and worked on two inaugural committees, Dr. Leach received the Air Force Technical Achievement Award, was presented with the Ambassador Extraordinary medallion from the Japanese Ambassador, and was the producer of a student-directed Emmy Award winning production.
Mr. McFarlane
Mr. McFarlane has 18 years of teaching experience. He has taught both middle and high school students,and has a M.S. in Mathematics. This year he is teaching Fundamentals of Computer Science, AP Statistics, and Principles of IT: Cybersecurity.
