The Summer Internship course will earn students either 0.5 or 1.0 credits, depending on how many hours the student will complete at their internship.
WEBINARS: In addition to attending their internship experience, students will be required to attend one mandatory, weekly, hour-long webinar. Webinars will be held every MONDAY. There will be two sessions each Monday - the first from 8:00 to 9:00 AM and the second from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM to accommodate student work schedules. See the "Webinar Schedule" tab for more information about dates, times, and topics covered.
HOURS: Students must work 75 verified hours to earn .5 credits and 150 verified hours to earn 1.0 credits. Students who do not meet the minimum hour requirement will not earn internship credit for the summer.
GRADING: We will use the 90% All Tasks and 10% Homework Grading Templates for the summer. All work will be available and submitted to Canvas only. Students will NOT email or share documents with the internship coordinators directly.
ASSIGNMENTS: Students will need to complete various assignments throughout the summer including reflections, activities related to workplace readiness skills, and a final portfolio. Click here for the syllabus which lists the assignments and a summer calendar.
LATE WORK POLICY: Every assignment has a due date. Assignments turned in after the due date will lose 10% of value per MCPS grading and reporting policy. Assignment deadlines are one week after the due date. Assignments turned in after the deadline will earn a zero (0). Zeroes are irreversible and will impact your grade, so be sure to stay on top of due dates and deadlines for assignments.
HOUR COLLECTION: Students will enter the hours they work at their internship on the MCPS Work-Based Learning Platform, Kuder. Instructions on how to add hours to your internship experience will be given at orientation the first Webinar of the summer, and can be found on the Kuder tab of this website.
