Does MCPS provide transportation to the VAC @ Albert Einstein High School?
No, and yes.
MCPS does not provide transportation to the VAC specifically.
If you reside within the DCC (Kennedy, Blair, Northwood, Wheaton, or Einstein) you can pickup any of the busses to Einstein.
If you reside outside the DCC it is the responsibility of the family to transport their child to and from Einstein.
Many families who reside outside the DCC find carpooling situations or older students that can drive younger students. This is not a guarentee but something families can look into once accepted.
Can my child do both the IB program and the VAC?
No, and yes.
Students in the VAC cannot do the full IB diploma due to the rigid nature of the IB program and scheduling. There just isn't enough time in the day to schedule the required courses.
Students in the VAC CAN do the IB certificate program. Many students in the VAC take IB classes in junior and senior year.
How many students are accepted to the VAC?
Each year the VAC can accept up to 35 incoming freshman.
Grade 10-12 slots are more limited and dependant on current enrollment in those grades.
If I missed the window to apply to the VAC on the countywide application can I still apply to the VAC?
Unfortunately, the instructors of the program have no ability to waive this process for you. If you missed the window you could try to contact the the DCC office and see if they can help you. DCCAPS@mcpsmd.org
