Enrichment programs provide an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming school year, try new things, and explore or develop interests.
Students should refer to the Enrichment Program Calendar to ensure that they are not choosing overlapping courses.
This program is for rising 9th graders who would benefit from math enrichment/reinforcement before entering high school.

What: All students will use Chromebooks and online technology during the new school year. Join this Technology Boot Camp to learn how to operate your device, web and Chromebook applications, and other programs so you’re ready for the school year! Improve your English skills while learning about your new technology! You will learn: how to use your Chromebook, Canvas, StudentVue, send an email, Google Suite applications, and much more!

All sessions will be held outdoors, socially distanced. Sessions are weather-dependent.

Foundations of Journalism Bootcamp
What: This journalism workshop gives students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of journalism or to enhance what you already know! Students will learn the basics of entertainment blogs, newswriting, feature stories and more!
When: June 28- July 9 12-2pm

What: Students entering 9th and 10th grade will engage in learning activities preparing them for the 9th and 10th grade curriculum. Activities will include common task preparation, writing with a focus on analysis, narrative and informative, academic vocabulary, work study habits, grammar, developing voice and style in writing, reading and analyzing various texts and independent reading and analysis.

What: Welcome to AP Lit Prep, an invigorating enrichment course in which you will prepare for the fall semester by reading closely and analyzing critically literary works of recognized merit. As we read and discuss, you will deepen your understanding of the ways writers use language to provide meaning and pleasure. We will review the elements of style, and you will have opportunities to revise your work for mastery. We will read short works from many genres, cultures and eras, and will consider both a work’s literary artistry and the social and historical values it reflects and embodies. In writing, you will continue to learn how to develop and organize ideas in clear, coherent and persuasive language.
You will never be finished with these works of literature; there’s always more to say about them!

Chemistry Through Combustion
Students will explore the rich concept of combustion and fire through the eyes of chemistry. Each day, a new demonstration, experiment or phenomenon involving combustion will be presented, discussed and explored through concepts typically taught in a traditional HS Chemistry course and AP Chemistry course. The content discussed is intended for students who have already completed a HS chemistry course, but would like both reinforcement of key chemistry concepts as well as a deeper dive into topics related to combustion.
Dates: Two Weeks: June 28th - July 2nd AND July 5th - 9th
Times: 1-3pm, Mon-Fri
What: This summer course will be an introduction to mathematical modeling - the field of using graphical, numerical, symbolic, and verbal techniques to describe and explore real-world data and phenomena. Emphasis is on the use of elementary mathematics to investigate and analyze applied problems and questions, supported by the use of appropriate technology, and on effective communication of results.
