Registration for all summer courses have closed! Credit Recovery for Semester B will remain open until June 16th.
Credit Recovery (retake a course) provides an opportunity for students to avoid failure and earn academic credit. A wide variety of educational strategies will be used to recover the learning objectives in courses that are graduation requirements.
Extension (improve your grade) provides an opportunity for a student to extend a portion of a course that they have already passed to possibly raise their grade.
Students may register for up to 3 credit recovery/extenstion courses per semester.
Courses will meet by subject area in the designated times listed in the table below.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do classes start?
Session A: Classes will begin on June 28 and end July 16.
Session B: Classes will begin on July 19 and end on August 6
How long is each class?
Students will meet at the times designated identified in the table at the top of the page. This time will include zoom meetings with their teacher, watching video lessons, participating in online practice activities and completing online assessments.
How often will I be expected to zoom with my teacher?
Students in credit recovery/credit extension should expect to work up to 10 hours per week for each course they are recovering/extending. Students should expect to zoom with their teachers at least twice each week. Teachers may request more frequent zooms to students that need more support.
What is a course I want to take for credit recovery or credit extension is not listed?
If you do not see a course listed for credit recovery/credit extension there is an "other" option. You can put in any course not listed and we will find a teacher to work with that course.
How do I contact my teacher?
Teachers will maintain a schedule of zoom office hours that will be provided to the student at the start of class. Students may drop into office hours as needed to ask questions and receive tutoring. Teachers are available via their MCPS email which will also be provided
What materials do I need at home to participate?
You will need a device that has access to the internet. Teachers will provide video lessons, practice materials, and assessments online.
How will I know what to do?
Students will attend a mandatory zoom session on day 1 (Semester A - June 28th and Semester B - July 9th) of the summer semester to meet their teacher. The teacher will demonstrate how to access online materials, share work expectations, office hours, and best practices to succeed in an online class.

If a student is taking a course for credit recovery or extension can they also participate in an enrichment course?
If the student is only taking 1 or 2 credit recovery or extensions, they may take an enrichment course if the times do not overlap.
